Roof Plans (Pitched or Flat)

Updated

Overview

Roof Plans are architectural drawings that depict the layout and design of a building's roof, including slopes, edges and roof details of the primary structure. They give architects, designers and contractors an accurate base drawing for renovation, design or construction work.

This article covers what Roof Plans are, what is included with the deliverable, where the add-on is available and important notes about capture requirements and delivery.

What's Included

Each Roof Plan delivery includes the following components:

  • Drafted roof plan in DWG format
  • Slopes and roof edges of the primary structure

Availability

This add-on is available with the following iGUIDE packages and is delivered in DWG format for compatibility with most CAD software:

  1. iGUIDE Premium
  2. iGUIDE Advanced Drawing

Important Notes

Keep these points in mind when ordering a Roof Plan:

  1. Roof Plans are typically delivered an additional 1 day after the DWG, 3D Model or Advanced Drawing Packages, depending on the size and complexity of the property and the current volume of iGUIDEs in the queue
  2. Advanced capture requirements apply to this deliverable — see the Advanced iGUIDE Capture Techniques article for full scan specifications
  3. Chief Architect can import DWG and DXF files. We provide files in standard 2018 DWG format for broad compatibility, but we don't support external software platforms—any compatibility issues, version mismatches, or import errors are outside our scope.
